Join in the challenge to develop the best consumer mHealth apps
We are entering an era in which everything is connected, from wireless cars to medical devices. In health care, sensors in, on and around your body are becoming widely available and are enabling consumers to track their own biometric data. By providing consumers with the digital health tools to aid in self-health management, we are witnessing a new generation of people taking charge of their own health.
2net™ Hub, 2net Mobile Developer Tools
Qualcomm Life is enabling further innovation and customization of mobile health applications and services with availability of the 2net Hub Software Development Kit (SDK) Beta and the 2net Mobile SDK. The 2net Hub SDK Beta and 2net Mobile SDK enable Qualcomm Life enterprise customers and Ecosystem collaborators to develop custom health care device connectivity for inclusion in the 2net Platform device library. A key value of this offering is to enable integrated device functionality that takes advantage of wireless features of the health care device’s sensors, and provides the output in an accessible form on one of the most comprehensive and open wireless ecosystems in the world, the Qualcomm Life Platform.
2net Connect APIs
Before the launch of the 2net Platform by Qualcomm Life, most medical devices and services were siloed and the data disaggregated and locked in propriety systems or on devices. The 2net Platform laid the groundwork and put the necessary infrastructure in place to liberate this biometric data in the cloud, paving the way for the next wave of smart, connected mHealth devices, apps and services. The key to seeing consumer adoption of these new health solutions will be the next generation of apps that take all of this information and make it accessible, actionable and useful. The 2net Connect APIs are among the first of their kind to provide a single, consolidated biometric data stream across radio technologies, device types, applications and services. Additionally, users will be able to leverage their 2net identity across 2net-enabled applications. While the APIs are offered for free to developers, there will be a revenue component due to QCL for actual commercialization of the 2net stream within the App. The App will be available through QDevNet. These APIs are for consumer application use only. For more information about the 2net Connect APIs and the global 2net App Developer Challenge, please visit the QDevNet developer site. Global 2net Connect App Developer Challenge
Qualcomm Life launched the 2net Connect APIs and the first 2net Connect App Developer Challenge on August 15, 2012, and the Global 2net Connect App Developer Challenge on February 18, 2013, enabling developers all across the world with the potential to monetize biometric sensor data from the 2net Platform. Developers have leveraged the APIs to build solutions that aggregate biometric data from multiple types of devices and sensors and process it in creative new ways. The first, second and third place winners of the Global 2net Connect App Challenge were NuWave Commerce, Grizzles Creates and Qualia Health, respectively.
The winners will be awarded cash prizes ranging from €5,000 to €15,000, and were announced in front of a global audience at the mHealth Summit 2013 on December 8 – 11 in DC.
